1.) Who is CEAC ?

CEAC - Cymraeg ewropead ansawdd cymdeithas. We confirm that CEAC is an operating accreditation service institution covering different certification systems, under the exemption of regional rights. CEAC provides equal services as other accreditation bodies based on ISO/IEC 17011. Even so we are not member of the IAF or ILAC.

2.) Where exactly is CEAC located ?

CEAC - a brand name and licensed service of EGIRE Ltd. - operates out of One Capital Quarter, Cardiff, Wales.

3.) Who authorised CEAC to certify other institutions or bodies ?

CEAC "does not certify" other bodies.

One of the most common misconceptions with terminology in regard to our services is the difference between certification and accreditation. A lot of companies advertise themselves as ISO accredited whereas in reality they are certified.

  • 'Certification' refers to issuing of written assurance (the Certificate) by an Independent External Body confirming that it has audited your management system and verified that it conforms to the requirements specified by the appropriate standard.
  • On the contrary, using 'Accreditation' as an interchangeable alternative to certification is a mistake because it means something different. In the context of management system standards, accreditation refers to the formal recognition by a specialised Body - an Accreditation Body - that a Certification Body is competent to carry out Certification within specified business sectors.
  • In simple terms, Accreditation is like Certification of the Certification Body. Accredited Certificates may be perceived on the market as having increased credibility but there should be no difference in the requirements that must be met, as these are set within the Standard and not by legislation.
  • The incorrect belief is, that all Certification Bodies have to be accredited by a single 'official' Accreditation Body which is the sole accreditor permitted to operate. BIS (The UK Department for Business Innovation and Skills) in its official policy principles on Conformity Assessment and Accreditation in the UK states: "Accreditation is applicable to both the regulated and non-regulated sectors but should remain voluntary unless required by specific legislation"
  • Nevertheless we prepared in foreseeing the one National Accreditation Body (NAB) Regulation and partnered with accreditation services from the United States of America (USA) under the brand of Expertus Group International RE (EGIRE). This partnership started back in 2014 also secures certification bodies onwards in the likely cases like Brexit.
  • Please also bear in mind that England & Wales is Common Law Jurisdiction and they operate as liberal markets. Also ring-fenced jurisdiction of independent regions/countries (e.g. Wales) applies. Furthermore there are commonwealth standards and internal trade agreements.

4.) Can you confirm that CEAC is an active and in operation accreditation service ?

We can confirm that CEAC is an operating accreditation service institution covering different certification systems (e.g., ISO/IEC 17024 and ISO/IEC 17021).

5.) May I use the CEAC logo with the EUC/GEIE accreditation number C-CP-6336833-02-01 on my letterhead ?

The usage of the logo is exclusive under the agreement, between the licensee of CEAC and the owner of EUC. There is no contractual agreement, between individuals and CEAC. Please be informed for this reason only EUC can answer such question.

6.) I could not find CEAC on the www. Please provide me with the contact details.

The internet URL is https//www.ceac.eu. The contact and other details can be observed under the disclaimer.
